ARTICLE III SECTION 1: PRESIDENT - It shall be the duty of the President to preside over all meetings of the organization, to preserve order and exercise supervision over its affairs. He/she shall appoint such committees and chairpersons as may be necessary to carry the work of the organization. He/she shall be ex-officio member of each committee and he/she shall sign all papers requiring his/her official signature. In absence of the Treasurer, he/she shall sign whatever check that may be required. SECTION 2: ATHLETIC VICE PRESIDENT BOYS/GIRLS - It shall be the duties of the Vice Presidents to over see all athletic affairs on their said side. He/she shall represent the organization at all league/meetings in which the organization participates. He/she shall recommend persons for all head coaches jobs. All recommendations shall be approved by the Board of Directors. Additionally, it will be the responsibilities of the Athletic Vice Presidents to over see the registration of all basketball participants and to place said participants in the proper age to insure that the participant is playing his/her proper age. Any exceptions must be voted on by the Board of Directors. It is also the jobs of the Vice Presidents to assist the President in all details of the organization. If the President is absent during an evenly-numbered months (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12), the Athletic Vice President of Boys will preside over the organization. If the President is absent during an odd-numbered month (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11), the Athletic Vice President of Girls will preside. SECTION 3: TREASURER - It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to receive all monies including membership dues, player fees, and money raised by committees or fund-raising efforts, and to give receipt for same; to pay all bills as authorized by the organization from funds of the treasury and to make proper entries for all said expenditures; and to keep an accurate and permanent record of all such expenditures and receipts so as to be able to give a detailed report of the financial status of the organization whenever called upon to do so. All books of the Treasurer shall be submitted for audit at the regular August meeting by the Board of Directors, who shall make a report of their finding at the September meeting. Suitable bond shall be taken upon the office of treasurer at the expense of the organization. He/she shall sign all checks. In his/her absence, the President shall sign the necessary checks. SECTION 4: SECRETARY - It shall be the duty of the secretary to give notice of all meetings of the Board of Directors. He/she shall record and retain the proceedings of all regular meetings, board meetings and special meetings of the organization. He/she shall send copies of the minutes of all meetings to the Board of Directors and prepare books, reports, statements and all other documents require by law. The Secretary shall perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the President or the Board of Directors. SECTION 5: BOARD OF DIRECTORS - It shall be the Board of Directors job to help oversee the entire organization's agenda and committees. The Board of Directors shall meet quarterly. The past president will serve as chairperson. A quorum at board meetings shall consist of six members. The Board is made up of the President, the Athletic Vice President of Boys, the Athletic Vice President of Girls, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the previous organization president, and three additional members. All except the immediate past president are elected annually. SECTION 6: GENERAL - All officers and board members may serve up to three (3) consecutive years in the same office. If elected to a different office, an individual may retain board status for an additional three years if elected annually to that office or board membership. Any officer or board member can be recalled if a written petition endorsed by seventy-five (75) percent of the active membership of the organization is submitted to the Secretary. The Secretary will have one month to verify signatures and confirm active membership before a vote is taken at the next monthly meeting.
