CONSTITUTION AND BY- LAWS OF THE MARYLAND SURE SHOTS ORGANIZATION

*All by-laws are in accordance with the vision and mission of Leadership Through Athletics, Inc., a not-for-profit, 501(C)3, and the parent organization to the Maryland Sure Shots.

NAME

The organization shall be known as the Maryland Sure Shots, hereinafter referred to as the organization. Home for the organization is 2900 Hammonds Ferry Road, Lansdowne, Maryland 21227.

HISTORY

The organization was founded in 1996. It is made up of boys and girls basketball teams competing at the highest level of play, including Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) national tournament play.

By-laws were written, modified, and approved in October of 2003 by the membership. The club colors will be blue and white until the Board votes otherwise.

PURPOSE

The purpose for which the organization is founded, is to enable the youth of our community to become responsible, good citizens and leaders of tomorrow through athletics, education and encouragement from parents and coaches. The organization is a non-profit civic club with its members donating their time and services to the youth of the community.

OFFICERS

SECTION 1: The officers of the organization shall consist of a President, Athletic Vice President of Girls, Athletic Vice President of Boys, Treasurer, Secretary and three directors, each of whom shall be elected annually.

SECTION 2: The Board of Directors shall consist of the past president, the five line officers and the three elected members, for a total of nine (9) members. In it inaugural year, the President shall also service as chairman of the Board and nominate an additional director, who must be approved by a majority of the Board. Thereinafter, the President will serve a second term as chairman when a new president is elected. In all subsequent years, the chairmanship will belong to the most immediate past president of the organization.
